Third Leeds United friendly announced as local side set to face Whites featuring cup finalists

Leeds United’s Under-21s will play non-league Guiseley AFC at Nethermoor Park on Saturday, July 27 as part of the club’s pre-season preparations for 2024/25.

The Whites’ youngsters will visit Northern Premier League outfit Guiseley next month in a bid to test themselves against senior opposition ahead of their 2024/25 Premier League 2 campaign.

Leeds’ U21s finished the season third-bottom of the new-look, 26-team PL2 standings last term, missing out on the end-of-season play-offs contested by the top 16 sides, in the division made up entirely of Category One academies.

United’s youngsters picked up 18 points from 20 matches in what was a transitionary season, however this coming year it is expected Leeds will compete at a higher level boosted by the development of several players from the Under-18s stepping up to U21 football, many of whom featured on the club’s run to the 2023/24 FA Youth Cup Final.

Guiseley, meanwhile, finished 10th in the 21-team Northern Premier League and have faced Leeds on several occasions in pre-season fixtures over the years.

A Leeds XI last faced the Lions at Nethermoor Park three summers ago, running out 3-2 winners with goals from Crysencio Summerville, Sam Greenwood and Charlie Allen.

Tickets for the fixture are currently on sale priced at ÂŁ10 for adults, ÂŁ5 concessions/U18s and ÂŁ1 for U11s. Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.

Leeds’ senior squad have so far arranged pre-season matches against Harrogate Town (a) and Valencia (h), while further games are due to be announced.
