West Ham target offered triple the pay packet to reject West Ham United transfer

West Ham United target Luis Guilherme has been offered triple the pay packet on offer in East London by a club in Saudi Arabia, according to 90min.

As reported by Toby Cudworth and Ben Jacobs [4 June], West Ham are cautious of a late hijack in the transfer as a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League is flashed under the noses of the player’s camp, but Tim Steidten is working to seal the deal to make the Brazilian wonderkid the first signing of the Julen Lopetegui era.

Palmeiras have reportedly agreed to an offer in excess of £25million from the Hammers, who have found mixed fortunes in Steidten’s trip to Brazil as defender Fabricio Bruno stalls on a move from Flamengo that was close to completion.

The report disclosed: “Documents have already been created with the three-time Copa Libertadores winners and Guilherme’s representatives, with the transfer now close to being finalised despite rumours of a late bid from Saudi Arabia.

“90min understands that intermediaries reached out to Guilherme’s camp offering personal terms worth three times the amount of money tabled by West Ham, but no official move has been made from dealmakers in Saudi Arabia.

“West Ham are cautious still of a hijack and are pushing to get the paperwork signed off for a player who has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs over the past 12 months.”

West Ham United battle for Luis Guilherme far from over

As West Ham will know mightily well from the Bruno saga in the past week, their race is far from run for 18-year-old Guilherme.

Steidten must get recruits secured sooner rather than later in order to rebuild Julen Lopetegui’s squad for the Spaniard’s first pre-season at the helm, with several players bound for the London Stadium departure lounge

Whilst the Hammers are currently in pole position, Guilherme’s camp as well as his current club may U-turn on proceedings should a formal offer come in from the Saudi Pro League.

West Ham’s Brazilian mission also covers Wesley Gassova, the sought-after Corinthians teenager, but communication remains at a preliminary stage. Let’s just hope one of these deals gets over the line.
