‘He has to…’ – Textor urges to ‘quickly’ get rid of Palace shares to ‘Save’ Everton

Sam Matterface has told John Textor to “quickly” get rid of his stake in Crystal Palace so that he can “save” Everton with a takeover.

The Palace co-owner has revealed that he would be interested in acquiring Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake at Goodison Park, something that now could be possible after 777 Partners’ takeover collapsed in May [Alan Nixon, 2 June].

However, Premier League rules mean Textor would have to sell his shares at Selhurst Park before investing in the Toffees and talkSPORT host Matterface has urged the American to hurry up this process.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Sunday (2 June, 13:43) he said: “John Textor, I suppose he has to end up getting rid of his stake (in Crystal Palace) and get in there quickly to save the whole project.

“Keep them on the straight and narrow and hopefully keep them in the division next season so that they can end up moving forward.

“Because the last thing they want is to go into administration, not complete the stadium, the stadium ends up being a bit of a white elephant or a mill around their neck and then things go from bad to worse.”

Will John Textor take over Everton after 777 Partners’ takeover collapsed?

Ultimately, the race is now open once again for anyone and everyone to try and acquire Everton. While Farhad Moshiri will be the man who decides who gets the keys to Goodison, 777’s collapse means anything could happen.

Textor has made his stance on a potential takeover incredibly clear, but it won’t be easy for the Palace co-owner to get rid of his shares at Selhurst Park as he needs to find a buyer before he can get to work on Merseyside.

While that process hangs in the balance, other potential investors could emerge in the takeover race. It is understood that several parties remain interested in acquiring Sean Dyche’s side and that will be the case for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully, whoever does become the new owner at Goodison will be able to follow Matterface’s advice and help the Blues get back on the straight and narrow. If nothing else, the supporters deserve a break from this chaos.
