Exclusive: Nottingham Forest to accept £4m offer

Nottingham Forest will accept a £4million bid for Joe Worrall this summer as it would add pure profit to their accounts, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Sheffield United and other Championship clubs have shown an interest in signing the 27-year-old.

Forest are on the brink of their allowable PSR losses heading into the summer transfer window and are expected to offload a number of players to balance their books.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side survived relegation but in order to invest in the squad over the summer they will need to raise funds.

One player who could be headed for the exit at City Ground is Worrall, who spent the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Besiktas.

Nottingham Forest to receive PSR profit from Worrall sale

O’Rourke said: “With Joe Worrall now back I think Forest will be open to offers for him – there will be a lot of clubs looking at him as a cheap option.

Clubs will be able to sign him for around £4million but Worrall has two years remaining on his deal so it will have to be on his terms too.

It might not be a huge transfer fee, but a sale will be pure profit on the books because he’s a homegrown player.

There is a bit of interest from Sheffield United and other Championship clubs in him.

Forest will be looking to sell players who do give them that potential of bringing profit in, which would help towards them making signings of their own.
