A big price tag for a big player: Bayern Munich first in line for €80m player

As the contract negotiation merry-go-round between Alphonso Davies and Bayern Munich continues, it seems the Bavarians have been pulling some strings in the background to ensure a swift replacement for the Canadian left-back.

The replacement? You guessed it, Theo Hernández.

The latest reports from L’Equipe insist Bayern are first in line for the Frenchman, however, The Rossoneri are ready to play hardball to keep Hernández:

Theo Hernández is inclined to leave Milan this summer. Bayern have made moves in the background in the past few weeks in order to be in place to finalise a deal in the summer. Milan are unwilling to sell the Frenchman, but it would take close to €80m to make them consider.

€80m is a hefty price tag for any player, let alone a left-back. It is therefore unlikely that Bayern would make any official move for Hernández before Davies decides his future with the club.

Should Davies decide against a future in Bavaria, Bayern would be hoping for a transfer fee in the ball park of €50m. This would significantly lighten the blow in signing the former Real Madrid man.

Despite Bayern’s concrete interest and background moves, Hernández’s future is tied to Alphonso Davies. Until the Davies-domino remains standing, Hernández will remain in left-back limbo.
