Exclusive: Tottenham open talks to sign Forest youngster this summer

Tottenham have held discussions over a transfer move to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest this summer.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Forest may have to cash in on one of their big names this summer in an attempt to balance the books.

O’Rourke explained that should Forest decide to sell this summer, Ange Postecoglou’s side will make their move to sign the 24-year-old midfielder.

Tottenham want to sign Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White has recorded five goals and ten assists in 36 Premier League appearances this season – his most productive year in front of goal so far.

This has attracted interest from both Tottenham and Newcastle as England’s elite sides look set to battle for his signature.

Having arrived at Nottingham Forest from Wolves for an initial £25million fee in 2022, with a further £17.5million in add-ons, meaning a £60million sale would represent a valuable profit.

Forest have found themselves in financial trouble this season, receiving a four-point deduction for a breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

This means they may be forced into some big sales this summer in an attempt to balance the books, putting potential buyers including Tottenham on alert.

Postecoglou is keen to invest in the playing squad at Spurs after recent frustrations resulted in an explosive press conference in which he slammed the club and the players.
