Luton Town boss fires warning shot to Nottingham Forest on pivotal penultimate day in the Prem

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards has fired a warning shot to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest that his side ‘still believes’ they can avoid relegation at the expense of the Reds.

Third from bottom Hatters are at West Ham United this afternoon knowing that they need to win to keep their hopes of survival going ahead of this evening’s City Ground clash between Forest and Chelsea. And Edwards says that having more clarity around the Reds’ failed appeal against their points deduction has helped their mindset ahead of the last two make or break games of the campaign.

“There’s more pressure but we can cope with that,” he told the BBC’s Football Focus this lunchtime. “We know where we stand now after statements have come out around Forest and I think that’s a good thing for everyone concerned.

“This game against West Ham has to be seen as a Cup Final and it has to be seen that way. We will keep going, keep fighting and everyone still believes. I keep getting emails and messages, and I see people in the street who say to me, ‘we can still do this’.”

Studio pundit Glenn Murray said: “I do feel for Luton because they haven’t known where they have stood all season with points deductions for Forest and Everton, and the way they approached certain games might have changed, but I suppose you just have to deal with things in terms of how they are in the moment.

“And now they know where they stand. It’s been a valiant effort from Luton. For them to still be in with a fighting chance, Rob Edwards has done a really good job this season.”
