Leon Osman criticised one Nottingham Forest player during their 3-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Reds went into this Premier League clash knowing that it was a must-win game.

Leon Osman hammers Forest defender Gonzalo Montiel

The Reds fell behind after a really rash challenge from the World Cup winner, Gonzalo Montiel.

He went flying into a tackle to leave Chris Kavanagh with no choice but to point to the penalty spot.

It was a real moment of madness and perhaps highlighted why he’s not played more this season.

Osman wasn’t impressed with this act and he felt the player was really erratic during this moment.

He told BBC Sport: “That is crazy defending from Montiel.

“It was the slightest of contacts and he has bought it a little bit.”

Performance shows why Forest have made decision on defender

With Neco Williams injured, Forest have been forced to call upon Montiel – but he won’t be at the City Ground next season.

It feels as though the Reds made this call using a bit of common sense, with better players out there.

It’s been reported that Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo won’t be activating the £9 million clause in the loan deal to sign Montiel permanently.

The 27-year-old has played just 18 times for Forest this season and the temporary deal hasn’t really gone to plan.

Williams has enjoyed a sound season and that is one factor that has probably tempted Forest not to sign him.

This incident on Saturday is pretty typical of Montiel and in our view, Forest are making the right call to avoid a permanent deal for the defender.
