Bargain? Lopetegui’s contract details emerge: View

While he has yet to sign the contract, a draft agreement has been reached between the Hammers and the former Sevilla coach.

According to the Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Lopetegui is set to sign a two-year contract with an option for a third year. The extension would be triggered if West Ham qualify for European competition within the first two years of the Spaniard’s tenure.

Once the deal is signed, Lopetegui will earn €4 million per year at West Ham, which is more than the €3.2 million contract he initially agreed with AC Milan last month before the Serie A club withdrew from the deal.

If true, this complete package would be significantly less than what would have been offered to bring Ruben Amorim to the London Stadium and seems more aligned with the club’s modest ambitions.

Lopetegui, who has continued to reside in the UK following his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers at the beginning of the current campaign, is expected to bring his entourage of trusted coaches and back-room staff with him to the London Stadium.
