‘Huge’ – Keith Jackson shares new Rangers v Celtic prediction in Daily Record: View

Keith Jackson does not believe Rangers will beat Celtic in the Old Firm derby at Parkhead on 11 May.

The Scottish Premiership title is likely to be decided by the result of the clash between the Glasgow giants, with Rangers needing to win in order to go level on points with their rivals.

However, Jackson is doubtful that the Gers can pull off a victory at Celtic Park and feels the Bhoys will win the league.

When asked if Rangers have what it takes to win away at Celtic, he wrote for the Daily Record (pg 36, 6 May): “Probably not. Celtic have got one hand on the big prize already and they are too streetwise to let it slip now.

“Course and distance is a huge factor at this stage in a tight title race.”

Rangers will need to overcome their Celtic Park record to win the title

If Rangers are to lift the Scottish Premiership title at the end of the season, it is clear that they must do something they have not managed since 2020 – win at Celtic Park.

The Gers have claimed four Old Firm derby victories since that 2-0 success on their rivals’ home turf almost four years ago, but each of those wins have come at Ibrox.

In their last six trips to Parkhead, Rangers have lost four times and drawn twice – losing on each of their last three visits.

Additionally, the Gers have yet to taste victory over their rivals under head coach Philippe Clement – in their three clashes this season, Celtic have won once at home and once at Ibrox, with the most recent clash at Rangers’ home ground finishing 3-3.

With Celtic standing between Rangers and both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup titles, the Gers and Clement know they must better their derby record if they are to add more silverware to the Scottish League Cup they claimed earlier this season.
