Mark Robins makes Man Utd admission ahead of Coventry City FA Cup clash

Coventry City boss Mark Robins has revealed that his side’s FA Cup draw against Manchester United is special, speaking to BBC Radio CWR.

The Sky Blues, led by former United player Robins, have managed to advance through to the last four of the competition following their 3-2 victory away at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Robins on Coventry City v Manchester United: “It’s a brilliant occasion”

Robins hasn’t even attempted to downplay how much of a special occasion the semi-final will be for his team.

Speaking to BBC CWR, he said: “To draw United is certainly special. But to draw any one of those teams would have been special.

“If you look at the teams left, to be in the cup at this stage with the top clubs is an achievement in itself.

“I was there as a kid and came through there at United. But my loyalties are certainly now with Coventry City.

“It’s at Wembley. It’s a brilliant occasion. We’ve got to come up with a plan that’s going to give us an opportunity to compete in the game and see where it takes us.”

Coventry City have the right ingredients to cause Manchester United problems

INTERVIEW: Ellis Simms looks back at first brace and aims for the season - News - Coventry City

A dangerous Ellis Simms, with his stature and goalscoring form, could prove to be a real thorn in United’s side.

Haji Wright is also a real threat and has experience of performing on the biggest stage, with the attacker even scoring at last year’s World Cup, so he’s another player to keep an eye on.

Throughout their team, they have some excellent ingredients they can use to give themselves the best chance of making it through to the final.

Callum O’Hare is another game-changer who could have a big say in this game – and he will want to prove why he should be playing at the highest level next season.

Robins also must be considered a dangerous weapon – because he has been an excellent fit for the Sky Blues and led his team to a major upset in the last round – something that will make some United fans fearful.
