Alan Shearer sums up Haji Wright winner in two words as he agrees with Gary Lineker about Coventry City

Alan Shearer hailed Coventry City’s dramatic FA Cup stoppage time victory over Premier League Wolves as “incredible”.

The Newcastle United and England legend made comment on the Sky Blues during his half-time pundit duties covering Saturday’s other quarter-final clash between Manchester City and the Magpies.

After showing the goals from the 3-2 cup shock at Molineux, programme host Gary Lineker said: “Extraordinary match as Coventry City, winners of the 1987 Cup Final are through to the semi-final of the competition for only the second time.”

He then turned to Shearer and said, “what about that win today?”.

The 53-year-old replied: “It was an incredible performance by Coventry to come back from where they were (2-1 down in the 88th minute) with the goals in 90+ minutes, and then the finish from Wright at the end, woah, incredible!”

Fellow studio pundit Micah Richards added: “They just kept going and going and going. Mark Robins is doing an excellent job there.”

Lineker then commented: “Two turnarounds in the game, and for Wolves to do it in the first place you are thinking, ‘wow, what a comeback,’ and then Coventry having dealt with that blow and come back to win was extraordinary.”

Shay Given added: “It’s one of the fairytales of the FA CUP and a brilliant story for Coventry to be in the semi-final at Wembley. Wow, what a day for them!”

And the last word went to Lineker, who turned to Shearer, whose home town side were trailing at the break, and said: “Miracles do happen, Alan.”
