Merson predicts who is going to win on Thursday evening… Everton or Newcastle

Newcastle United is gearing up for a different kind of test against a furious Everton following a week of glamorous ties.

This week, the Magpies travel to Merseyside following victories over Chelsea and Manchester United as well as a tie with Paris Saint-Germain, which was probably their best result.

That is another issue for Newcastle to contest with as they prepare to head to Goodison Park – a ground that they excelled at last season. Howe’s side won 4-1, on a night where Alexander Isak produced a moment of real magic.

While the table says otherwise, Everton are in better shape nowadays. Sean Dyche is doing well, and they only find themselves in the bottom three because of that 10-point deduction that has enraged the Toffees faithful.

That could lead to an intense atmosphere on Thursday night, and it is one that Newcastle must manage.

thinks the Magpies will do just that, and is backing them to make it a hat-trick of Premier League victories at Everton’s expense

Paul Merson says Newcastle will triumph over Everton.
In his most recent Sportskeeda column, Merson has projected the results of every Premier League midweek match. He has predicted that Newcastle will triumph 2-1 at Goodison Park on Thursday.

“This season, Newcastle has been absolutely phenomenal,” he remarked.

“I think highly of the manner they’ve performed. As a coach, it’s all about improving people, and the manager did a great job at that. They’re receiving the benefits they are due.

“Anthony Gordon’s going to get a lot of stick at Goodison Park this week. He’s been great so far, but he won’t be too comfortable against Everton. Newcastle slaughtered United without a lot of their players, and I can’t talk highly enough of them.

“If Everton were to be demoted this season, I would be stunned. They performed well away from home versus Villa and have a lot of X-factor results. Given how poorly the three promoted teams are doing in the Premier League and how dangerous Everton can be on their days, they ought to be able to remain up.

“Everton is a funny team at home; right now, they’re winning away. They can pose a threat to Newcastle if they can generate opportunities at home. Although I doubt Newcastle will be able to consistently produce strong performances, they ought to win this match.

About Anthony Gordon, a winger for Newcastle, Merson is correct.
Regarding Anthony Gordon, Merson is correct. On Thursday night, he’s going to take a lot of flak.

When he had come back to Goodison the last time, it was a night Howe had only trusted him to play the last five minutes.

However, he is suddenly a totally different player and is having the best football season of his life. Following his victory over Manchester United, he is receiving more and more calls to be included in Gareth Southgate’s upcoming England roster.

If he performs well against Everton—a match that will truly put his mental toughness to the test—those calls will grow even louder.

Merson continues to believe that the Magpies will win, even though it is difficult to predict. Not only has Newcastle struggled away from home, but Everton has also performed poorly.

On Thursday night, something has to give, and Merson has projected a close victory for Eddie Howe and company. Hopefully, he is correct.
