What happened when Jermaine Jenas first walked into the Forest dressing room
Well, the pundit has been reciting certain moments from his career, including coming through as a teenager at Forest.

The Reds were blessed to have Jenas at the time and when he departed for Newcastle he earned the club £5 million.

As a teenager, Jenas has been explaining what it was like walking into the dressing room for the first time and he was surprised by the reaction of certain senior pros.

He told the That Peter Crouch Podcast: “From the minute I went into the Forest dressing room, I remember speaking to experienced guys like Andy Johnson, Alan Rogers, Chris Bart-Williams – Marlon Harewood was there too – and it was like instant respect.

“It was like they were looking to me for what to do next sometimes. I’d be watching youth team games sometimes and not in an arrogant way but I’d be thinking that I can play in this team – and the manager knew it.”

Jenas was a class act during City Ground days

Remarkably, the former midfielder only made 33 appearances for Forest before getting poached by Newcastle.

In that time, however, his talent was there for all to see and it was no surprise to see his career kick on.

He played for Newcastle, Tottenham, Aston Villa and also enjoyed a short loan spell back at Forest before retiring.

Jenas made 21 appearances for England and that alone makes him one of the best players to ever come through the Forest academy.

The pundit is still a Forest fan to this day and it would appear that his quality earned him the respect at the City Ground from day one.

In our view, it’s a huge shame that he couldn’t stay longer at Forest but at that time finances were extremely tight.

It’s always interesting to hear players of old talk about their time at Forest and it appears the club had some good characters at that time.

Jenas netted four goals during his time at the City Ground and it’s clear he looks back at his time at the club with fondness.
