Wrexham hammer final nail in John Coleman’s coffin as long-serving Accrington Stanley boss sacked

The club’s official statement on Coleman’s sacking read, “Accrington Stanley can today confirm that John Coleman and Jimmy Bell have been informed that their contracts are terminated with immediate effect. Everyone at the club thanks them for their long-standing service and we wish them all the very best for the future.”

Coleman’s first stint with The Owd Reds lasted for 13 years as he managed them from 1999 to 2012. He again returned to the club’s management in 2014 and stayed with the team until 2024. Under the English manager’s tutelage, the club won multiple trophies including the League Two title during the 2017/18 season. In the current campaign, though, the club have failed to perform consistently and find themselves 16th in the league.

The Red Dragons, who moved up to the third position in League Two, will next take on Morecambe in a league clash on Saturday.
