‘Unacceptable’… Former referee claims Nottingham Forest player was very lucky last night

A veteran referee said that Felipe, a defender for Nottingham Forest, was really fortunate not to be sent off yesterday night.

Regarding an incident that occurred at the conclusion of last night’s match against Manchester United, Keith Hackett has been commenting on X.

What has Hackett stated regarding Felipe, the central defender for Forest? Let’s investigate more closely.

Keith Hackett’s remarks from yesterday night on Forest star Felipe
At the conclusion of Forest and United’s FA Cup match last night, things did indeed seem to be heating up.

The fact that Bruno Fernandes was involved in the action when Forest star Felipe took it will not come as a surprise.

Fernandes spent the majority of the game doing what he does best; whinging and pretending to be hurt when he’s not.

Felipe took offence to the nature of his play and the Forest man appeared to grab him by the throat shortly after United had scored a late goal.

Hackett couldn’t believe what he was watching and took to X to explain why Felipe should have seen red.

He Said: “My view is that this action should have resulted in the issue of a red card. There should be no place in football for this unacceptable action. How can a referee judge the force? Having hands in the face is unacceptable – red for me.”

Surely, the force doesn’t matter in this situation, based on intent alone that warrants some action from the referee. The lack of consistency is an embarrasment to the sport. What’s worse, grabbing the collar of a shirt or grabbing a player by the throat?

Felipe was lucky but Reds are owed a break

Isn’t it amusing? Manchester United end up on the wrong end of a VAR decision and all hell breaks loose within the media.

The Reds have experienced weeks of wrong decisions and inept VAR and barely anyone has batted an eyelid.

Felipe may benefit from some of the advise that Forest’s newly hired match official, Mark Clattenburg, might have for him this morning.

Even though Fernandes can tire opponents, Forest cannot afford to receive unnecessary red cards for incidents like this.

Felipe is only now beginning to make an impression on the Forest squad; maybe, he can take this as a lesson and manage his emotions a little better the next time.
