CEO Dreesen: Bayern Munich can improve their Champions League results

Do not stick a fork in Bayern Munich just yet.

Even though Bayern Munich lost to Lazio 1-0 on Wednesday, they are still in the running for the Champions League. The tie’s second leg is still to be played, and it is scheduled for March 5 in Munich.

Following the game, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen stated, “Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß have always said a 0-1 defeat away from home is a result you can live and turn things around at home” (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I believe that’s the lesson we need to take away from today—that this club has what it takes to win and move on, especially when they play at home on March 5th in front of 75,000 supporters.

“But now of course the disappointment is big and we have to deal with it.”

Squad leaders like Thomas Müller are sending the same message. Although there are still valid complaints regarding coach Thomas Tuchel’s inconsistent tenure, at least the Bavarians are moving in the same general direction.

Bayern Munich is the team in the current UCL field that has the best chance of overturning a first-leg deficit.
