Blackpool FC: Neil Critchley gives verdict on the debut of Sheffield Wednesday loanee following appearance off the bench

The midfield player, who was an unutilized substitute in the most recent 1-0 loss at Stevenage, moved from Sheffield Wednesday to Bloomfield Road on a season-long loan on Deadline Day.

When the Seasiders visit The Completely-Suzuki Stadium on Tuesday night to play Cheltenham Town, Byers may be able to make his first start for the team.

In response to the 27-year-old’s debut in Tangerine, Blackpool manager Neil Critchley stated: “He shown his experience as soon as he took the field. He gave us the cool head we needed to have some control over the game at that particular moment. He made a few easy passes that give you momentum. We just didn’t fully take advantage of the fact that he demonstrated his class during that part of the game.

“He hasn’t played since late December, but he’s been healthy. He played for fifty to sixty minutes during a brief game we held last week behind closed doors. The team that plays against Oxford won’t likely be the same as the one that plays Shrewsbury in three weeks, as I told the players at the beginning of the week. Everyone must be prepared to participate.
