Everton: Transfer ‘fire sale’ mooted in Premier League relegation warning

Journalist Dean Jones claims that if Everton is demoted from the Premier League, they might be forced into a “fire sale.”

The Toffees’ 0-0 midweek draw with Fulham sent them into the bottom three, one point outside of safety.

Sean Dyche’s side managed to keep their squad intact during the January transfer window, but that will almost certainly change if they fail to stay up.

“Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to become a high-profile exit in the summer, as the homegrown talent has the ability to bring in big income and is wanted by Man United and Real Madrid,” Jones said in an interview with Give Me Sport on February 2.

“A lot of things need to be worked out before Everton can decide which scouting level can be used to actively recruit players and how to proceed.”

“There will be an effort to let go of players who can be replaced more in accordance with what Sean Dyche needs to build a better future if Everton stays up.” However, we should anticipate a fire sale if they fail.

Everton’s summer transfer plans

Just one day after the winter window closed, many teams were undoubtedly already working on summer acquisitions, as they want to be ready for the future.

Everton’s issue is that, as things stand, they are unsure of the division they will play in next season.

With just 16 games remaining in the season and the team currently in the bottom three, relegation must be taken seriously.

The Toffees have simply not performed well enough in recent weeks, which hasn’t helped with the points deduction that could yet be reversed.

It should go without saying that a number of prominent players, Branthwaite foremost among them, will go if the team does fall into the Championship.

Regardless of the takeover scenario at that time, the main goal will be to bring in as much money as possible to balance the books.

That is, of course, the worst-case scenario, and fans will be counting on Dyche to steer us clear of problems over the next several weeks.
