Aston Villa attempting to get defender off the books but 29-year-old rejects all three offers

Football Insider sources claim that although Aston Villa is keen to let go of defender Calum Chambers before Thursday’s transfer deadline, he has turned down three offers.

Aston Villa Can Challenge For The Champions League

The 29-year-old is being heavily pursued by Villa, but Chambers appears unwilling to leave the team.

Chambers has fallen in Unai Emery’s hierarchy at Villa Park, appearing in only three games this season across all competitions. Notably, Emery has preferred Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa over him, and he hasn’t played a minute in the Premier League in 2023–2024.

The Villa defender has apparently received bids from three Championship teams, but Chambers has rejected each one. Aston Villa is under pressure to raise money in order to comply with Financial Fair Play requirements, and Chambers’ departure would help them save money on payroll.

Chambers reunited with Emery at Villa in 2022 after their time together at Arsenal, on a free transfer. Since coming, though, he has had trouble earning a place in the first team’s plans.

Villa has a limited amount of time to profit from Chambers’ sale since his three-year deal is scheduled to end in the summer. Since the team wants to earn money through player sales, Emery said earlier this month that Chambers is free to leave the team.
