The 19-year-old, who is signing a five and a half year contract at Selhurst Park in a big transfer for the club, is getting a deal for £18.5 million plus £4 million in add-ons.

Wharton is eager to leave now that Palace is having trouble in the Premier League, even though Championship team Blackburn wants to keep him on loan.

Having attended Ewood Park since he was six years old, Wharton inked a contract in December that would have kept him at Blackburn through the end of the 2027–2028 campaign.

Since making his club debut more than a year ago, the midfielder has made 51 senior appearances, starting in all but two of their league games this season and contributing two goals and three assists.

Maxwel Cornet of West Ham, who piqued Nottingham Forest’s attention this week, has also been questioned by Palace.

For £17.5 million, Cornet left Burnley to join the Hammers in August 2022, but he hasn’t lived up to the potential that brought him to London.

In that period, the 27-year-old has only made three Premier League appearances for the team, and he is currently looking to restart his English top flight career.

His departure from West Ham could be approved before the transfer window closes at 11 p.m. on Thursday, February 1.
