Kyle Walker admits he nearly joined Bayern Munich in £15m deal because

Kyle Walker acknowledges that he almost signed a £15 million deal to join Bayern Munich in order to “escape” the wrath from the baby controversy in the UK. but praises Man City manager Pep Guardiola for supporting him as “unbelievable”

Kyle Walker has broken his silence and revealed how he considered following Harry Kane to Bayern Munich to escape the backlash he received following the news of his secret child

In an effort to avoid the hostility he faced after it was revealed that he had a hidden child, Kyle Walker has spoken out and disclosed that he thought about moving to Bayern Munich with Harry Kane.

The full-back for Manchester City and England had reportedly agreed to a verbal transfer of £15 million to the Bundesliga powerhouse in July, but he ultimately opted against it because he didn’t want to leave his children behind.

Walker also talked about how ‘understanding’ Pep Guardiola is, calling him ‘unbelievable,’ and disclosed how England manager Gareth Southgate was in contact to give assistance.

Walker nevertheless gave the relocation to Germany some thought when he moved out of his £2.4 million family home and his two-year wife, Annie Kilner, announced they were divorcing.

Shortly after Walker was revealed as the father of influencer Lauryn Goodman’s unidentified five-month-old daughter, the couple announced their split.

Walker considered the transfer to Germany after his wife of two years, Annie Kilner (left), announced they would be separating and he moved out of their £2.4million family home

Walker, who previously had a son with Goodman after splitting from Kilner in 2020, has acknowledged that he has made “idiot choices and idiot decisions,” adding that he never intended to cause harm to his “soul mate.”

As he thought back on leaving their Cheshire home and having to spend time apart from his three children with Kilner—who is currently expecting their fourth—Walker was on the verge of tears.

The England international mentioned that he considered fleeing the nation in order to avoid the scandal and that his ideal destination would be Germany. He was clear, though, that he had never really intended to leave City.

Walker stated, “I tried to escape,” in an interview with The Sun.

Walker also heaped praise on 'unbelievable' Pep Guardiola for being so 'understanding'

“Did I want to leave City? No, of course I didn’t. We’re the best team in the world right now. But it was a chance to get away from England and the media I was going to get.” “I knew the clock was ticking. I came very close to moving. We were having conversations. I was going to a great club, a massive club. But in the end I couldn’t go.” “If this happens in Germany, Annie leaves and I’m now in Germany on my own. There’s pain and emotion right now, but I can go to the house, take the kids to school, and my little lad will be safe.”

Walker continued talking about his friendship with Guardiola, saying that once he found out about the circumstances, the Man City manager was really sympathetic and understanding.

“He was unaware of what was going on.” Walker stated. I was afraid he would think I wasn’t mentally there, so I didn’t want to inform him. I’m so grateful to him for his understanding and belief in me throughout the past four years.

Walker also revealed how Southgate reached out to him. The England defender refused to divulge the details but told The Sun: “For your national team manager to reach out in a time of need goes beyond football.”

Walker, who is expected to play a pivotal role for Gareth Southgate’s England at the European Championships in June, went on to say he wanted to ‘curl up in a ball’ after his relationship with Goodman came to light in January.

Therefore, he felt a move to Germany would be best – especially as it would see him link-up with his England team-mate, Kane, who joined the German giants from Tottenham in a £100m deal during the summer transfer window.

The England captain made the decision to leave because he has never taken home a big prize in his career, despite coming close with Tottenham and on the international front.

Walker, however, made the decision to stay put in order to defend his marriage and weather the storm; the MailOnline had previously disclosed how the City actor will always be there for Kilner and his kids.
