Leicester City Could Lose £30 Million Midfielder To Premier League Club

According to The Athletic, Brighton & Hove Albion, a Premier League team, and Leicester City are in talks over Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s signing.

This season, the player has played a significant role in Leicester’s push for promotion, but Brighton & Hove Albion may be ready to lose him. The two teams’ estimates of the price still differ, but talks are still going on to attempt and reach a consensus.

The 25-year-old is coveted by Brentford as well, but the Seagulls are presently leading the race, while Arsenal and Fulham have expressed interest in signing the player but have not yet taken any action.

After spending his whole youth career at the club, the Shepshed-born central midfielder has been with Leicester since 2006, and the club is looking to transfer him for a fee of about £30 million. Before establishing himself as a mainstay in the first squad during the 2021–2022 campaign—while the Foxes were still in the Premier League—he had loan stints at Blackpool and Luton Town.

He has played in 27 Championship games this season, tallying nine goals and dishing out nine assists. Since Chelsea recently recalled Cesare Casadei from his loan agreement early last week, manager Enzo Maresca is hesitant to part with one of his key players.

Stefano Sensi of Inter Milan is the replacement the team is seeking to bring in for the previous loanee, but if Dewsbury-Hall leaves in the last few days of the transfer season, they may need to move quickly to acquire another player.

Brighton’s current advantage in the race is mostly due to their participation in the Europa League this season. After winning the competition, Roberto De Zerbi’s team is waiting for the draw for the final 16, which is scheduled for February.

The Premier League team is only prepared to pay a sum they think appropriate, and the player has not yet consented to the transfer.

Being a talented football player, Dewsbury-Hall would excel in a system designed by Roberto De Zerbi. With little time to find a replacement, Leicester will be cautious about losing a player of his caliber so late in the transfer window. With Southampton involved, it could completely upend the Championship’s promotion chase. Leeds United and Ipswich Town are both vying for the automatic promotion positions.

If Brighton is able to sign the player, it will be a big boost to their hopes of finishing in the Premier League’s top six. They will be taking their initial moves in the direction of replacing Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, who last summer departed the team to join Chelsea and Liverpool, respectively.
