Blackpool defender makes admission on contract situation as he shares his current focus

Blackpool to play Championship rivals in friendly action during warm  weather training camp in Spain

The defender, who came to the Seasiders from Leyton Orient in 2020, has made 125 appearances for the team and has scored 11 goals in that time.

Ekpiteta says that right now, he isn’t too concerned about his contract status and that his major goal is to assist Blackpool in returning to the Championship after they were relegated the previous season.

“I’m not thinking about it too much, I’m just here to play games and that will take care of itself,” he said

As professionals with similar objectives, winning and ideally getting promoted are my current priorities; contracts are of less importance. We will investigate it when the season is over. We’ll have to wait and see because there are other variables at play.

Ekpiteta has only made 14 appearances in League One thus far this season, but he has played a significant amount of minutes in the cup games.

He went on, “I’m determined to stay on the team.”

“In the end, the manager gets to decide how he wants to set everything up. If I play, I’ll do all in my power to help the team score three points. Everyone feels that they should be able to play, thus the person who performs best gets to stay in.

“You have to keep going even when you’re not playing. There are a lot of games, so you need to be prepared to play.
