Leicester City Had Deal “In The Bag” For £15.5 Million-Rated Attacker

According to reports, Leicester City felt confident about finalizing a deal for the teenage winger and was extremely close to signing Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo on a season-long loan.

Football Insider first reported in December that the Foxes will compete with Sunderland, a competitor for promotion, to recruit the Ivory Coast international on a temporary basis. Additionally, Darren Witcoop mentioned that Ipswich Town had entered the race for the winger a few days prior to the start of the January transfer window.

However, speaking in an interview with GIVE ME SPORT, writer Dean Jones has revealed that Leicester were closer than had previously been reported to signing the 21-year-old, even saying the club had the transfer “in the bag”.

Leicester City believed they had a deal for Diallo in the bag and were optimistic it would go through, but as of right now, it hasn’t.

“There are indications that it won’t occur. I would therefore doubt Southampton’s prospects of obtaining Diallo if Leicester is unable to acquire him.

After a brief layoff due to injury, Diallo made his Manchester United debut of the year at the end of December, replacing Antony off the bench in the team’s loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Ivorian’s market value is now estimated by Transfermarkt to be £15.5 million. He enjoyed an incredible season on loan at Sunderland last year, scoring 13 goals in 37 league games to help the Black Cats advance to the playoffs.
Although there has been a lot of interest in signing Diallo, the player was eager to remain at Old Trafford in order to compete for a starting position in Erik ten Hag’s squad, as The Real EFL exclusively disclosed back in November.

Amad Diallo moves to Rangers on loan - The Busby Babe

For Leicester City, Amad Diallo would have been a fantastic addition. But with Jadon Sancho being sent out on loan and Antony failing to register a goal or assist this season with the Red Devils, a transfer away for the former Atalanta player appears increasingly doubtful.
Furthermore, Abdul Fatawu has been playing for the Foxes for a very long time; in 24 games, he has scored twice and provided seven assists; the addition of Diallo would simply limit the Ghanaian’s playing time.
