Sunderland’s striker transfer plan confirmed as Beale reveals Mason Burstow decision

Sunderland’s head coach, Michael Bailey, has stated that the team intends to add another striker this month. Despite the rumors that Sunderland is interested in a number of front-runners, Bailey says the team won’t waver from its principles and would only sign a player who is “the right fit.”

Mason Burstow will remain on Wearside for the remainder of the season, according to Beale, despite Sunderland’s plans to bolster their forward line in the January transfer window.

Beale clarifies that Burstow will not be returning to his parent club this month despite the fact that he has only started one Championship game since October.

“I think Mason is going to stay here,” Beale stated.

“We’ve had those discussions, and as of right now, he’s scheduled to stay until the conclusion of the season. Under the former coach, he started seven games and, despite Mason’s absence from the score, the club achieved good results. He is working well.”

In an attempt to address their striker shortage, Sunderland is prioritizing the signing of a No. 9 this month, even with Burstow remaining in place. Nazariy Rusyn’s goal against Preston on New Year’s Day was the first and only time any of the team’s four strikers had found the back of the net this season.

Beale said: “We are looking. We’re being linked with every No.9 that’s breathing at the moment but we’re looking for the right No.9 to come and fit in. It has to fit in our budget, the player has to come and be really motivated to help us as well.

“There are one two other positions we’re looking at as well.

“It’s generally a difficult month. It seems a few teams around us are certainly loading up. Some teams have already done work. That’s not to say we’re not busy in the background. We are. But at this moment in time there’s nothing to report.”

Although Sunderland intends to add strikers to its roster this month, Beale says he still believes in the strikers the team already has on its roster.

“You have to say that even though the four new strikers haven’t scored any goals, they still need to have contributed because the team is currently sixth in the league,” he stated. I believe that at the beginning of the season, everyone would have accepted that after 26 games.

Mason entered the game against Rotherham on a challenging pitch, and after I brought Rusyn on, he scored an excellent goal and showed a truly contagious work ethic.

“Mayenda and Hemir are displaying positive signs in training, and Hemir is an excellent finisher. I’ve tried to reenergize that area.”

“Those two were most likely purchased with the future in mind. We’ll see, but because we’ve also lost Bradley (Dack) and Paddy (Roberts) for a bit, we’d want to see some action in the last third. It’s a great chance for individuals like Abdoullah and Adil, who I hope will also stand up.”
