Victor Torp, a Danish midfielder, is reportedly close to joining Coventry City in a “major deal” worth £2.1 million from Norwegian top flight club Sarpsborg.

The 24-year-old is “being sold to the Championship club” in a transaction valued at a “whopping” 19 million Danish kronere, according to Danish daily BT. The clubs have reportedly “almost agreed on a transfer,” according to journalist Farzam Abolhosseini’s story, citing his sources in Norway. As a result, Torp’s agent, Jens Ørgaard, is presently “sitting and finalising the terms” of Torp’s contract at the English club.

After star player Gustavo Hamer was sold in August, the Sky Blues began searching for a dynamic midfield player. Sarpsborg’s player of the year, who scored six goals in 30 games, may be the right candidate. As far as CoventryLive is aware, City’s scouting network has been searching Europe for a worthy candidate to take Hamer’s place.

According to the article, Torp has experienced a “wild development” in the Norwegian first division, the Eliteserien, and “this means that Coventry now buy him for DKK 19 million in Sarpsborg.” Torp can play in a variety of positions in the middle of the park, both attacking and holding.

“Personal relationships are also coming into place, and then he gets his big move to the Championship,” the article states.

It continues by saying that Torp’s “dream of a big move abroad can come true” if he successfully completes a medical examination.

“Very few had anticipated that Sarpsborg would obtain such a substantial amount of money for their investment so soon after they brought him to FC Midtjylland, where he was not given the opportunity,” continues Abolhosseini.
