Depending on your point of view, that may be a major problem or a nice chance to clean things out. After beginning contract negotiations with many veteran players, such as Wes Foderingham and Oli McBurnie, early in the season, United hopes to bolster their roster with the addition of striker Ben Brereton Diaz on loan.

With George Baldock, John Egan, and Ollie Norwood, among their teammates, set to become free agents in the summer, those two are now free to talk about pre-contract moves to teams outside of England. With some of the players, United has choices; but, the relegation battlers’ uncertainty about their division for the upcoming season complicates the process.

Speaking recently, manager Chris Wilder acknowledged that “in an ideal world we wouldn’t like as many out of contract,” but he stressed that the situation was “not a concern to me at all.” Additionally, on the BladesRamble fan YouTube channel, the proprietor shared his own thoughts on the circumstances. When asked if he was worried about how many players on the first team would depart in the summer, Prince replied, “No, because we’re talking with some of them right now.”

United line up international striker as first transfer of window

“It’s a really challenging scenario because you would want some of them to stay if we get to the Championship. Perhaps if we continue in the Premier League, you will feel compelled to change course. Regarding this matter, Chris and I seem to be in agreement, though obviously it’s not completely up to us. I won’t list the players’ names, but we’ve been attempting to extend the contract for one and a half years, but he refuses to.”

The Prince did not name the player in issue, but one member of their team who United has been in talks with for a while about a new contract is striker Daniel Jebbison. Due to a mixture of a physical and medical condition, the England U20 international has not played since May of last year. As of right now, he is expected to retire in the summer. The Prince said, “Jebbison is one of the players we tried to renew.” “I believe Chris spoke with him and his family, and we will make every effort to retain him.” We’ll see what transpires, but he is a talented young player.”
