Eddie Howe describes the Diogo Jota incident as “confusing” and makes a “tough” statement regarding Liverpool

Liverpool beat Newcastle 4-2 at Anfield in the Premier League. But Eddie Howe was left ‘confused’ by referee Anthony Taylor and felt his side was unfortunate.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe saw his side lose 4-2 against Liverpool.

The Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe, was displeased with referee Anthony Taylor’s apparent mishandled calls that cost his team a 4-2 defeat over Liverpool at Anfield. With Mohamed Salah scoring twice and missing a penalty, JĂĽrgen Klopp’s team produced a record-breaking 7.2 anticipated goals in the contest. They were worthy winners.

Although Cody Gakpo and Curtis Jones both had goals, Howe stated that he was “confused” about the penalty that allowed Salah to score. Although Diogo Jota would have tapped into an empty net had Martin DĂşbravka not clipped his heel, the Newcastle manager felt there was not enough challenge for Jota to fall.

“Liverpool performed incredibly well, and we had a difficult game. After the game, Howe told the BBC, “We knew it would be.” However, we had our moments and produced some pretty strong acting sequences.

“We appeared dangerous, and the penalties we gave up today still baffle me much. Particularly the second one—the foul on Jota—did not appear to be a penalty, and the one we had right before it was likely the game’s turning point.

“In my opinion, the fact that we are battling is the most significant thing. Although [Newcastle’s recent bad run of performances] is challenging, we have a really difficult schedule with several players out. However, we’re still fighting, and the group’s integrity endures.”

Liverpool won handily, but the home crowd jeered off referee Taylor. Joelinton attempted to stop a counterattack, but the Brazilian lost control of the game at times, especially towards the conclusion of the first half, and he failed to book him for a clear foul.
