Chelsea’s attempt to con Everton doomed to failure

The reports that Chelsea was trying to force two players upon Everton in an attempt to get one of the Toffees’ most significant stars have shown the depths of Chelsea’s desperation during the transfer window.

The West Londoners’ three games so far this season have resulted in a 1-1 tie with Crystal Palace, a 2-0 loss to reigning champions Man City, and a commanding 6-2 victory against Wolves. According to transfermarkt, 24 players also left during a busy transfer window.
Chelsea desired a Calvert-Lewin trade. Give Me Sport sources have now revealed that Chelsea attempted to trade Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Everton’s Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana.
The striker may be viewed as a sellable commodity because he hasn’t indicated that he wants to extend his contract with Everton, but there was never a possibility in hell that he would be traded for Datro Fofana and Disasi. While the latter has only made three Premier League appearances from two seasons ago (transfermarkt) before being moved out on loan, the former has only played 11 minutes this season (WhoScored).

The idea that Chelsea would have thought Sean Dyche would have been so receptive as to accept those players in return for his star player is a little puzzling. The West Londoner’s desperate attempt to adhere to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and not break any other Financial Fair Play regulations is what the possible transaction does allude to. Although the transfer window has ended, the two can still be sold overseas, so the Blues may want to concentrate on that over the coming days. Any pay bill decrease benefits the club; only time will tell if they are successful in the transfer market in the latter stages.
