“We will play the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup to win” – Glasner

Crystal Palace are through to the third round of the EFL Cup after an emphatic victory over Norwich. After the game Glasner and several members of the squad reflected on the result when talking to the media.

Crystal Palace were victorious in the EFL Cup winning 4-0 against Championship side Norwich City.

This result meant they secured their place in the draw for the third round as the Eagles aim for cup success.

Goals from Daichi Kamada, Eberechi Eze and a brace from Jean-Philippe Mateta sealed the South London clubs first victory of the season.

The Eagles will find out who they will in round three of the cup on Wednesday evening, when the seeded draw takes place.

Oliver Glasner, Dean Henderson, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Daichi Kamada all faced questions post Norwich, here are the main takeaways.

  • Glasner on cup win

When asked about his thoughts on the evening, and Palace responding to a shaky start to the season, Glasner said, “Yeah very positive and very important today after two defeats in the Premier League we wanted to make the turn around.”

On Jean-Philippe Mateta’s spectacular first goal ending the Crystal Palace corner drought, “Yes and it was from a set play, and we were very close scoring after set plays in the last two games. It was a deflected ball from Adam Wharton at Brentford, and it was the cross bar and post from Ebs against West Ham.”

New signing Chadi Riad picked up a knee injury with early reports suggesting the Moroccan defender has sustained ligament damage. Glasner confirmed he hopes Riad recovers quickly and provided an update on the defender who is expected to at least miss the Chelsea game on the weekend.

“Yes, I spoke to him and the doctor. We will have to wait for the scan tomorrow. We will have to hope it is not too serious.”
